EcoFaeBrick

This year’s winner of the Global Social Venture competition was EcoFaeBrick, a business idea from a team of students from Prasetiya Mulya Business School in Indonesia.

What:  Making bricks using cow dung, abundant in some regions of Indonesia

Why:  Cheaper (for the rural producers) while also producing high quality bricks

Earthie why and how:  Replaces the use of non-renewable resources (clay and firewood) with a renewable resource (cow dung), also powering the production process (kiln) with biogas (methane).  Biogas can be produced using a variety of organic matter, including manure.

Congratulations team.  Check out the other brilliant ideas that made it into the final round.
