passionate curiosity

Excerpts from “Distilling the Wisdom of C.E.O.’s” by ADAM BRYANT

They share stories about failures and doubts and mistakes. They ask big-picture questions. They wonder why things work the way they do and whether those things can be improved upon. They want to know people’s stories, and what they do.

It’s this relentless questioning that leads entrepreneurs to spot new opportunities and helps managers understand the people who work for them, and how to get them to work together effectively. It is no coincidence that more than one executive uttered the same phrase when describing what, ultimately, is the C.E.O.’s job: “I am a student of human nature.”

Revisiting Mistakes

I (try to) live my life without any regrets, letting mistakes be bygones.  I, of course, always note the lesson from each mistake. Perhaps this ritual is am important ingredient in living a life with no regrets. You come to peace with whatever hump you drove over. But lately, I’ve been feeling that revisiting that mistake is a crucial part of checking my progress. I realized this when I found myself at the brink of hitting another hump. Without trying to be too vague …

There are some things in life that gradually and quietly become a part of who you are today – in your behaviors, quirks, likes and dislikes. But of those behaviors, there are those that are faulty and become all too much of a vice. It’s subtle, it’s in your sub-conscious. Make sure you have an eye for recognizing it when it resurfaces.. otherwise you’ll find yourself standing at the brink, about to fall in.

Something’s Missing
John Mayer

I’m not alone, I wish I was.
Cause then I’d know, I was down because
I couldn’t find, a friend around
To love me like, they do right now.
They do right now.

I’m dizzy from the shopping malls
I searched for joy, but I bought it all
It doesn’t help the hunger pains
and a thirst I’d have to drown first to ever satiate

Something’s missing
And I don’t know how to fix it
something’s missing
And I don’t know what it is
At all

When autumn comes, it doesnt ask.
It just walks in, where it left you last.
And you never know, when it starts
Until there’s fog inside the glass around your summer heart:

Something’s missing
And I don’t know how to fix it
something’s missing
And I don’t know what it is
At all

I can’t be sure that this state of mind, is not of my own design
I wish there was an over the counter test, for loneliness.
For loneliness like this.

Something’s missing
And I don’t know how to fix it
Something’s missing
And I don’t know what it is
No I don’t know what it is
Something’s different
And i don’t know what it is
No I don’t know what it is
